| In a ceremony held at Sault Ste. Marie, MI, on September 18, 2009, Interlake Steamship's Senior Vice President Robert F. Dorn was honored as Great Lakes Marine Man of the Year. The honor includes induction into the Great Lakes Hall of Fame, housed in the SS Valley Camp Museum at the Soo. Click here to read more about Bob Dorn. Also honored as Great Lake Marine Man of the Year and inducted into the Hall of Fame was the late Dewey P. Aston, Interlake's Operations Manager from 1969 to 1985. Click here to read more about Dewey Aston. Many people from the Great Lakes maritime community attended the event. Capt. John Wellington served as master of ceremonies; speakers included Interlake Chairman James R. Barker and Lake Carriers' Association President James H.I. Weakley. Interlake Chairman James R. Barker is also a member of the Great Lakes Hall of Fame, having been named Marine Man of the Year in 1975. Great Lakes Marine Man of the Year and the Hall of Fame are sponsored by the Soo Locks Visitors Center Association.
