The 700’2” self-unloading, articulated tug-barge unit Dorothy Ann-Pathfinder entered into service after conversion from the former straight-deck bulk carrier, Steamer J. L. Mauthe. The Mauthe was built for the Interlake Steamship Company in 1953. The 7200-horsepower, Z-drive tug Dorothy Ann was built by Bay Shipbuilding Co., Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, and began sailing with the barge Pathfinder in 1999.

Interesting Facts

  • She transisted the Seaway for the first time in June 2000. At Quebec City, she loaded pumice stone for Fairport Harbor, Ohio.
  • She has 14 crew members, the smallest among the Interlake fleet.
  • A versatile River-Class vessel, she is a workhorse regularly logging more than 100 trips a season.
